San Francisco Examiner story about the book

The word and some of the park’s secrets are getting out!

Today, some of the secrets of Golden Gate Park from the new book out on March 2 started to get out there in a wonderful article in the San Francisco Examiner by James Salazar.

When I was interviewed by James, I was so excited I was talking a mile a minute!

It’s fun to see some of my favorite things from the book made it in the article: how wonderful the National AIDS Memorial Grove is; how indebted we are to people who have designed and defended the park over the years (shout-out to Sue Bierman); and the best bathrooms (you’ll have to read the book for that).

I also enjoyed hearing Nancy Botkin’s first impression of me. Our shared, deep love of Golden Gate Park is behind all of this, that’s for sure. And her quote in the article is perfect:

“No matter what your ability or energy level is, there is something to do in the park. Whether it’s finding solitude, community, awe or wonder.”
